Goddess and animal totem collage artworks
As a collage artist and a legacy from the Avant Garde Dadaist and Surrealist art movements from the early twentieth century my major influences were the collage artists Hannah Hoch and Kurt Schwitters.
This series of large mixed media collages featuring goddess drawings and animal totem imagery are quite a departure from any of my previous artworks.
In keeping with the vintage aspects of my hippie travel stories and bohemian world adventures in the 1970s and 80s I designed these artworks to include images of retro passport stamps and the distinctive red and blue edging from air mail aerogrammes we all wrote on.
Featuring the tagline for each chakra chapter, this root chakra collage features a brilliant red fire breathing stenciled dragon totem and dancing Shiva with an intricate border of Shiva’s tridents.

Representing our throat chakra the winged zebra symbolises independence and individuality. With retro aerogramme borders, winged zebras and an ancient Greek Minoan Sea goddess, the colours with blue highlights are very evocative of the Greek islands.

Representing our sacral chakra and drawn in earthy browns and oranges this collage features various African elephant totems, an expressive African woman dancing her joy and a retro aerogramme border of Ashanti fertility dolls.

Representing our solar plexus chakra, this collage features a radiant golden Phoenix totem rising above the ashes of destruction. A perfect match for the two mirror image drawings of Goddess Kali with a retro aerogramme border of hand drawn skulls to symbolise the cycle of life and death.
