about the book
The Naked Artist Journey is the story of Maralyn’s life through art, adventurous travel and art therapy.
After art school, non-western art, spirituality and a bohemian lifestyle became her artist’s muse with an exotic array of adventurous journeys throughout India, Africa, Egypt, Greece and the Pacific Islands.
Forming a creative backdrop for the rest of her book, Maralyn has written expressively on the early days of being a pioneering Art Therapist in Sydney onto many twists and turns overcoming numerous challenges in later life.
Maralyn has further divided her book into seven sections to represent the seven colour chakra mandalas with a series of art therapy creativity exercises divided into four parts at the end of every mandala section to inspire the reader on their own creative, healing journey.
To be naked is to be oneself.

Author / artist / art therapist
My true-life journey, spiritual voyage and pilgrimage of the soul started when I took my road less travelled.
Maralyn Nash is a professional Artist, Art Therapist and Author. She is a pioneering graduate from the Master of Arts (Art Therapy) program at Western Sydney University in 1995-96 and has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from La Trobe University, Victoria in 1980.
Maralyn has over 30 years’ experience in teaching visual arts and working as an art therapist as well as exhibiting her artworks regularly in group and solo art exhibitions.
The inspiration to write this book originated from a long ago travel memory as a hippie in the medieval kingdom of 1970s Kathmandu and discovering a very magical book on mandalas in a bookshop tucked away in a winding laneway off Durbar Square.
